Signs are Available
We have had another productive and exciting week in Alabama! 4,700 signs arrived and have now been dispersed to several locations around the state. In order to make materials easier to access I have set up distribution points in the cities listed below. If you need signs or literature to give out call these people:
Mobile—Chris Dezego 251-648-3227
Dothan—Mike Holland 334-797-5246
Montgomery—Brian Roughton 334-328-5684
Auburn—Chris Brunner 205-401-4081
Tuscaloosa—Scott Morris 256-651-1643
Birmingham—Jessica Sult 205-542-5881
Sylacauga—Sunny Roberts 256-378-6088
Jacksonville—Mike Ramzy 256-782-2600
Gadsden—Ron Crocker 256-543-9876
Huntsville—Tracy Kozinski 256-693-2388
Thank you to all of you who have signed up to be precinct leaders. We still need many more people to help distribute signs and slim jims to their neighbors. Click this link to sign up now: https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/grassroots/
We are also in great need of people who can make phone calls over the next few days. The campaign is supplying several prepaid phones for those that would like to help. As you identify new Ron Paul supporters among your friends, family members, coworkers, or people you meet during canvassing please write down their contact information. Send those names, numbers, addresses, and emails in excel or Microsoft word files so that I can update our supporter list with the new people coming aboard. The campaign will send a postcard reminding them to vote so that we can improve our turnout on the 5th. These lists of new supporters need to be sent to me no later than Tuesday the 29th, to give us enough time to mail the postcards before the primary.
If you know anyone who owns property on a major road, please contact me. There are nearly 200 4×8 foot signs that need a good home!
Don’t forget to invite your friends to your “Ron Paul Primary Party” on February 5th. Make it a special occasion, because it is. If everyone who reads this email can personally deliver 10 votes for Ron Paul we will rock the political establishment in this country. Yes, you will need to call your friends, neighbors, and family members to insure that they show up to vote no matter what happens. You may have to drive them to the polls or watch their kids while they vote. The bottom line is this: It will take effort, but as we know, our efforts are well worth the sacrifices we are making.
The pundits and politically connected would have you believe that one “unimportant” and “backward” southern state can’t make a difference in this election. For many years we in Alabama have indured insults and a lack of respect from the mainstream media. The corporate propagandists would have you believe that this race is over, and that you have no real voice in the matter. Show them that we will not be taken for granted. Prove with your actions that we are able to change the course of history as we unite with a common purpose. Whatever it takes, find me 10 people…
14 days…
14 days from now we’ll finally get the chance to speak up for a big change in Washington.
I’m sure many of you are aware that this is the start of a movement to take back our country from the special interests that are destroying your family’s future. Don’t sit on the sidelines of history. Jump into the battle and channel your political frustration into making YOUR voice heard! Years from now you will be proud of the fact that you did your part to make this nation better for your children and grandchildren. Here’s what I need you to do.
1. Make sure you and all of your friends and family are registered to vote by this Saturday the 26th! Speak to everyone you know about Ron Paul. You will be able to reach the people you know better than an advertisement could. Make it your goal to get at least 10 people to vote for Ron Paul!
Voter registration cards can be acquired at your local county courthouse or printed from online by visiting http://www.sos.state.al.us/Elections/GetRegForm.aspx
In Mobile and Baldwin counties, voters must registered by Jan. 22. These counties are holding their primary elections on Jan. 30.
2. Sign up to be a precinct leader by clicking here: https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/grassroots/
Once you have signed up, start distributing literature to the people in your neighborhood. You will find maps of your precinct, phone numbers and information about which issues are important to the voters in your precinct!
This is an incredibly powerful tool to use when sharing Ron Paul’s message because it lets you know what to mention and what not to mention in the conversation.
At the time of this writing there are less than 200 precinct leaders in Alabama. We need several hundred more people to help us distribute the 100,000 pieces of literature that just arrived.
3. If you feel that you are not able to walk your entire precinct, sign up anyway! Almost everyone can talk to the people on their street. If you would like to help in some other way, let me know. In addition to getting out literature, I need many people who can make phone calls. I also need some help in distributing 4,700 signs that will be arriving today. Yes, 4,700!!
4. Signs and literature will be stationed in the following cities: Mobile, Dothan, Montgomery, Selma, Auburn, Sylacauga, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston, and Huntsville. I still need someone in the Gadsden area who can help get materials distributed. Once everything is delivered I’ll send out the contact information for the campaign representatives in those areas. Thanks for what you have done and will do to take full ownership of our state…

22 days…

January 14, 2008
In 22 days Alabamians will go to the polls to vote for either Ron Paul or the status quo. As you are all keenly aware, the status quo is unacceptable. We as a nation are facing a critical juncture. We can continue the Bush “plan” and face unending “nation building” in the middle east while relinquishing our civil liberties here at home. We can continue to fight a “global war on terror” while refusing to adequately patrol our own borders. We can trust in government or we can believe in the power of the individual…
Like many of of you I have read countless articles about politics and current events over the past several years. I have repeatedly felt frustration, disgust, and disillusionment over the utter contempt our elected officials appear to have for the rule of law and the traditions of this country. It was this frustration with the status quo that led me to join a meetup group last June. Since then I have been much more involved in the campaign than I would have thought possible at the time. I share that story for two reasons. First, I am one of you. I have held signs, knocked on doors, written letters, and debated the establishment on talk radio. Secondly, I would challenge you to become more than you thought you were capable of.
We can not change the past. Iowa, Wyoming and New Hampshire have voted. Though we may not have envisioned the ultimate outcome of those contests, we must now look to the future, and within ourselves as we contemplate these next three weeks. I would urge each of you to focus on that which you are most able to control. How much of an impact you make will be determined by what you are willing to do. Never believe that one person can’t make a difference. Never believe that you don’t matter, or that you don’t have the power to change history. I know a college student who led an effort to knock on 5,000 doors this weekend. I know 2 stay-at-home moms who have converted literally hundreds of voters to Ron Paul. I have been very honored and humbled by the selfless activism that is so commonplace among Paul’s supporters.
This campaign in Alabama will be successful, but it won’t be due to huge fundraising totals or brilliant campaign strategy. It will be won because average people decided that they were willing to be more than average. Regular citizens all over the state are making the decision to be involved and to truly make a difference. Join me in the fight to take our country back. –One precinct at a time. Click here to sign up as a precinct captain in the Ron Paul campaign: https://voters.ronpaul2008.com/grassroots/ Who can convince your neighbors better than you? If you are living in a rural area it is even more critical since most cities in Alabama do at least have meetups that are actively canvassing neighborhoods and handing out literature.
This week there will be a shipment of 100,000 pieces of literature arriving in the state. This is in addition to the roughly 70,000 that arrived a few days ago. We do have the resources to reach enough voters with Dr. Paul’s message, but we need your help. Contact me directly by responding to this email. Be sure to include your phone number and address so that I’ll be able to direct you to the appropriate district coordinator. Thanks for being involved and for giving me the opportunity to work alongside some of the best people I’ve had the pleasure to know. 22 days… make each one count.

P.S. Whenever I place literature I attach a personal letter (see below) so that the recipient knows that a real person cared enough to let them know about the issues. One more thing…You may also want to include a voter registration card with the literature you pass out. This is even more important when speaking with younger voters. Voter registration cards can be acquired at your local county courthouse or printed from online by visiting http://www.sos.state.al.us/Elections/GetRegForm.aspx Anyone who intends to vote in the February 5th primary must be registered by January 26th!
My name is Brian Roughton. I live in Elmore County and operate a small business in Prattville. (Brian Roughton Guitar Studios) When I’m not teaching or playing guitar, I often spend time reading articles about politics.
As you can imagine most of the news isn’t pretty. Until recently, the idea of supporting any politician seemed as reasonable as throwing cash out the window. That changed when I found out that Congressman Ron Paul was running for President.
Over the years I’ve read many of Dr. Paul’s speeches and admired his outstanding conservative voting record.
- He has never voted for a tax increase in all of his years in Washington.
- He has opted out of the congressional pension plan.
- He proposes ending birthright citizenship for illegal aliens, and has vehemently opposed any plan that would grant amnesty to illegal aliens.
- Moreover, Ron Paul is the only candidate that advocates the elimination of the liberal welfare system which attracts so many illegal immigrants in the first place.
Dr. Paul has a perfect record where the 2nd amendment is concerned. He is also 100% Pro-Life. Ron Paul has been a tireless advocate for decreasing government spending and insuring that you and I have the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.
Thanks for reading and feel free to contact me if you would like to help spread the word about Ron Paul.
Sincerely,
Brian Roughton

New Year’s Day for Ron Paul
Yesterday several supporters decided to put literature on doors in Montgomery. Thanks to Kirk, John, Noelle, Dan, Ashley, and Jacob for their great contribution to the cause!
