Become a Delegate for Ron Paul by Mar. 3

Ron Paul needs YOU to become a delegate to your County Convention!

We are recruiting delegates for the Nebraska GOP County Conventions and the deadline is just days away - March 3rd This is your opportunity to have your voice heard at the County Conventions, which will be held from June 1st through June 10th, depending on your county.

If we have a good showing at the County Conventions, our delegates will go on to the State Convention on July 12th. That is where you will elect Ron Paul delegates to the Republican National Convention!

Becoming a delegate to your state convention is one of the most important things you can do to help Dr. Paul, and in Nebraska it's very simple to become a participant. Below is an outline of the qualifications and requirements.

Qualifications

The only qualification to be a delegate is that you are a registered Republican. You can register as a Republican at the same office where you file to be a delegate, on the same day. If you have any further questions about qualifications, please email Field Coordinator David Hoyt at david.hoyt@ronpaul2008.com.

Filing

The easiest way to file is to go to your County Clerk's or Elections Commissioner's office and fill out the Candidate Filing Form. You can find your county's office here: http://www.sos.ne.gov/elec/clerks.html You will need to have an official at the office witness and sign it. This is part of their job.

If you cannot get to the office personally, you can download the form or have it mailed to you. Then you must have it notarized and mail it in, or otherwise deliver it. The easier option is to do it in person and have it witnessed at the office, as described above.

Forms vary by county, but contain basically the same information. To see what will be asked for on the form, see the general one here (note - this is NOT for you to fill out and bring in, just for reference): http://www.sos.ne.gov/elec/pdf/partisan.pdf.

It really is as simple as filling out this form and having the office sign it. Also be sure to ask the official at the County Clerk or Elections Commissioner office how many delegates have been allocated for your county. Then report this number to David Hoyt at david.hoyt@ronpaul2008.com.

If Elected

If elected to the State Convention, you will need to be in attendance at the Republican State Convention in on Saturday July 12th, 2008. If you are unable to go to the State Convention, you can still support Ron Paul at the County Convention in June by voting for the other Ron Paul delegates.

Sign-Up Today!

If you are interested in becoming a delegate for Ron Paul or would like more information, please let us know by filling out the delegate information form on our website. Signing up will also help the campaign give you important updates as the convention approaches.

Spread the Word

Please help us recruit more delegates by forwarding this message to other Ron Paul supporters in Nebraska who may not be on our mailing list.

Field Coordinator David Hoyt is organizing a team of volunteers to call every identified Ron Paul supporter in Nebraska. If you've got some time to spare for the cause, please email David at david.hoyt@ronpaul2008.com and let him know you're ready to "ring for Ron!"

The only way our voices will be heard is to be delegates. This is a fairly simple process that will have tremendous benefits for the campaign. All you have to do right now is simply sign up. Ron Paul supporters have a huge opportunity to send a message to the Republican National Convention in September. If we all band together and each do our small part, we can win Nebraska for Ron Paul and maybe even make a little history.

Dr. Paul is doing his part. I implore you, please do yours.

ARTICLE VI
State Conventions

Section 1. NUMBER, NOMINATION AND APPORTIONMENT OF DELEGATES. The State Central Committee shall fix the representation of the State Convention for the various counties in the manner provided by law, and shall notify each County Chairman of such action at least thirty days before the time of holding the County Convention. Each county shall be entitled to a minimum of one delegate. The total number of delegates shall be four hundred. The number of alternates and the apportionment thereof shall be the same as the delegates.

Section 2. Each delegate shall be entitled to one vote which may be cast by the alternate in the absence of the delegate. In the absence of any delegate, the roll of the alternates shall be called. The alternates from each county or district, as the case may be, shall be entitled to serve in order designated by the County Convention, or the County Committee.

Section 3. In addition to its first meeting as State post-primary convention, the State Convention may be reconvened at any time prior to the statutory date for holding of the post-primary County Conventions at which the delegates to the successor State Convention are elected, upon the call of the State Chairman, at the direction of the State Central Committee, or upon the direction of the Executive Committee of the State Central Committee by a majority vote of the entire membership thereof. At such meetings, the convention may transact such business as may properly come before it. In Presidential election years where the post-primary State Convention cannot conveniently be convened at a date sufficiently early to make such nominations prior to the date of the convening of the Republican National Convention, the National Committeeman and the National Committeewoman may be elected by such reconvened State Convention.
